was preping my calipers for painting and had a few question that i couldnt find the answers to,

the rust ring around the edge of the brake disk can this be removed? is it very visible when the wheels are on?

should i paint the pad red aswell or leave it?

can that metal clip be taken off? looks abit naff

are they clean enough to be painted, (spent 40 minutes with a wire brush, brake cleaner and sand paper)

You can 'remove' the rust, but it'll soon be back

Don't paint your pads

Don't remove the clip, what do you think it's doing there in the first place (partially holding your pads in)

Just fitted my splitter today, and brakes were painted about a year and a half ago, need to upgrade to 312's sometime, but for now, they look alright

The rust ring around the edge of the disc can be ground off by using a file or a grinder. Sometimes the edge can be knocked off just by tapping it with a hammer.
