Yep it’s a common issue, door lock is on its way out.
New one is around £130 /breakers around £40. 30min job to fit but door card needs to come off..

Would it need coding or is it just a straight swap?

Try the wd40 trick. Search YouTube for it if you don't want to completely remove the lock and panel.
I removed the lock and opened it slightly before spraying inside. Didn't work straight away but a few hours later it started working. Hasn't worked for months before that.
Dealer wanted £130 for a lock.

To completely remove the door panel/ lock you need a long Tx30 and a spline/square for removing the lock.
Rears are a lot easier than fronts.

Assuming it's rear passenger like everyone else has...

The rears been down on mine for months. Usually wouldn't open from outside then from inside intermittently.
At which point I put the key in the drivers lock and since then over the coming weeks the passenger front stopped working and could only open the drivers using the key. Spent the weekend doing wd40 on them all and resetting the lock pulls on the front. All working at present although may still buy a replacement rear as not sure how long it'll last.

I've had both of my rears go, though a couple of years apart. Replaced both with used items from eBay and they've been fine since.

With the rears you don't need to take the door card off. You just need to remove the trim panel from the door card. This provides enough room to remove the lock.

Thanks for info, by the sounds of it it's a common problem, it's my rear right what doesn't work, I traveled 300 miles for my k1 but didn't think to check rear doors, I soon realised when tried to put car seat in and wouldn't unlock with key, it's a bit annoying as having instant access to all doors by remote is essential but hopefully be fixed this weekend

Hope all goes well
Well tried the front passenger door today, just going to give it some time as that door didn't work since I got the car.

Hopefully win win, the door still locks so that's a start haha
