Car seems higher than before

Afternoon all!

Got a bit of a problem. Well just an annoyance tbh. I changed my standard suspension on my mk1 fr pd150 for some coilovers about 4 months ago. All went well untill i got annoyed with having to avoid everything that looked like it was going to destroy my sump.
So decided to put standard suspension back on about 2 days ago along with new polybushed arms new inner tie rods and tie rod ends and polybushed topmounts.
After fitting i went and got the tracking done and feels a tonne better!
Only problem im having is the front end of the car seems to be sitting alot higher than it use to before when it had standard suspension.
Im not sure it is because maybe the bushes have less give in them or the topmounts are making it sit higher? Or if i have to give it time to settle which i dont get as the suspension isnt brand new.
Got a photo of how it use to be and how it is now.

Many thanks !

I've got to agree, that is sitting rather high for one of these (I have the same car)
I can only assume it's down to the new polybushed top mounts.

It does seem a bit odd.

The topmounts dont look any different when comparing to the old ones either

All the bolts for the wishbones were tightened under load also

When you say you put standard suspension back on, did you put back the units you had previously removed when you put the coilovers on, or did you get a set of "standard" suspension from somewhere else, a breakers or something?

The reason I ask is that, on my old TDI 150 Toledo, the suspension was not "standard" but "sports", which is lower all round. and I believe the Leon TDI 150 had the same suspension. There is a way to check, if you still have a readable copy of your data sticker in the boot or in the servicing book. In the set of option codes, those three-character codes at the bottom of the sheet, there will be one starting with G that relates to the suspension fit.

G22/G23/G24/G25 = Standard
G26/G61/G62/G63/G64/G96/G99 = Sports

My Toledo TDI 150 Sport had G99 in the sheet, confirming Sports suspension. It was the last code on the sheet, on the bottom line.

The visible difference, the ride height, is specified in terms of the distance between the wheel center and the top of the arch.

Standard: 396mm front, 390mm rear
Sports: 381mm front, 375mm rear

So the Sports suspension, as fitted at the factory, is 15mm lower all round. You could try measuring your car as it is now to see what the setting is - if nothing else it will tell you whether it really is higher than before. I think it does look a bit higher, myself.

The suspension is the exact same set as i had on the car when i bought it and before i fitted the coilovers so nothing has changed.

I didnt think it was possible for polybushes to make that much of a difference if it is down to them. If anything i thought it would have made it better or as equal as.

Thanks for the reply though very helpful!
