Just a few questions

I just have a few questions regarding getting a stage 1 remap on a 2014 SEAT Leon FR 1.4 TSI ACT that I am thinking of getting.

1. I have heard that if the battery is disconnected then you loose the remap and the car returns to stock. Is this true?

2. Does the remap override the SEAT driver profiles? So do you no longer have the option between sport, normal and eco, and instead they all run the remap? (If that makes sense)

3. What are the advantages of getting the SPS switch?

Cheers in advance for any help anyone can give me.

ScruffyLad, I was talking to my local revo dealer this morning about a stage 3 upgrade and whilst i was there i asked about the Battery disconnect issue.

The response they gave me we that on older cars the ECU did have a problem with resetting to default mode but you can still use the car and take it in and the will reset it for you. I have also seen some comments that you can do this via the SPS switch but he did say he has never seen it on either the Seat or Golf cars and knows of people who have taken battery off.

I am not a technical but the profile options still work on my car, obviously ECO is all about the settings and how you drive. From memory a lot of the profile is about gear change and damper settings, Eco which I have used just seems to drop to idle when power not needed.

SPS Switch on my car gives me Stock Mode so if car is going into garage for any reason I set it to Stock so they dont hammer it down the road on full revo power, There is then a low and high quality setup (mine stays in High Quality as i only use Shell VPOWER or TESCO Multi whatever. but if you want to run on lower octane petrol then use the lower quality (fuel). Finaly and this is why i bought it , there is an anti theft setting so you can start the car but it just coughs and stops, just slows people down when trying to nick your car.

There is also some software you can download and make some small changes but never bothered with that.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much theoldboy. That helps a great deal and is very informative. Sounds like it is definitely worth while getting the SPS then. Going to get Christmas out the way and get a stage 1 in the new year.

I would guess then if for whatever reason the remap did reset then they would put it back on for free or at least cheaper than £400+ for the initial install. I'm currently waiting for a response from my local REVO dealer.

I've never really thought about petrol octane with this car being a 1.4. Always used Shell V-Power in my 2.5 Focus ST, but now fill up with just normal unleaded from which ever garage I happen to be at. I know there is advantages to higher octane but is it something I should really be considering on a 1.4 engine?

Sorry for adding even more questions, was just going to be a thank you post!!

no problem if you go on the revo site it shows setting for 3 different petrol octane settings, i suspect that you get a bit more power using higher octane but Revo Dealer can confirm.

With regards to cost i would expect it to be free or 1 hours labour cost no more
