Hi all....my car has been outside for about 3 weeks while I await a new wing mirror which someone knocked off

In the mean time I tried to start the car other day and it's making like a ticking noise when the ignition is turned.....

It's absolutely dead too ....the doors won't open on central locking etc.....so assumed battery was close to being flat

After buying a chargerwhich said the battery was full I just checked with a multimeter and the battery is full

Any ideas what the issue maybe anyone....im assuming alternator but no clue really

It's a tdi 1.9 also

Thanks all

I've just tried to start my car and it sounded like the battery was flat even though it had only been off twenty minutes. A few seconds later there was a very fast licking noise. Is this most likely the solenoid in the starter.

I managed to jump start it straight away when I connected to my wifes car so does this mean its more likely the alternator. Gonna test with my multimeter tomorrow when I get a chance.
