Seen a few posts on here saying 60k or 4 years is when you change the timing belt, That being said I went through my manual and it says to change Timing Belt at 130k for CR TDI engines.

I'm at 75ks just now

For peace of mind, I would do it about now. That means it's something you can more or less forget about. I know you mentioned that you have a pal who is a mechanic but if you want another recommendation, have a chat with Gerry at Performancetek in Glasgow. He's a mate of mine and a VAG/Mini/Honda specialist and has been working on all my cars for about 12 years. Good rates too.

I bought my car from Arnold Shark in 2012 (against my better judgement as I knew exactly what they were like) as it was the only Cupra available near me at the time.

Had it back in about 6 times for warranty work despite telling them what was wrong the first time. It needed a new charcoal canister and valve. They replaced coil packs, PCV valves, plugs, filters etc until they eventually replaced the actual faulty part. I wasn't about to stop them as the more new parts the better. There were issues with ABS sensors too.

I was to trade in my Evo 7 at the end of the week. I overheard one of the sales rats saying to his colleague "I'm gonnae smash that Evos c**t in when I get it home on Friday night". [:@] Yes, it may not have been mine by the end of the week but I just got wound up by the wee turd's attitude. I went straight home, put it up for sale on the old JDMy0 forum and had it sold the next day for 1500 more than I was getting from AC. The wee guy was gutted when I turned up with the full cash for the Cupra and no Evo. :cartman:

Haha Arnold Shark, I'll be using that from now on. I've used them cos I've got the "free service mot package" they tried to tell me my 4 month old Uniroyal rainsports were 95% worn at the front, ye can still see the yellow and green lines that come on them brand new.

Also said my exhaust bracket fell off but I've not seen the evidence yet.

I'll not be using them again. Quoted me 140 for spring and fitting, when I can get eibach ones for 150 if I shop around.

Evo 7, bet ye that was a flying machine. My fav car is the evo 8 , always wanted one, Maybe one Day

Seat say earlier to maintain the warranty on it, no point if you don’t get seat to do it.
