Hi

I currently have a 2010 Leon mk2 with an RNS310/315 unit. I’m thinking about upgrading to an aftermarket radio that includes CarPlay (not any official unit).

Is it just a simple case of buying a new unit that fits the Leon, buying any adapters that are needed to make it work with the Bluetooth and that’s it? Do I need anything special?

Thanks.

I'd be surprised if any aftermarket stereos support the standard bluetooth module so they'll need to include bluetooth themselves if you want to use that. Some may support MFD integration and the steering wheel controls but it's very hit and miss.

The current crop of aftermarket CarPlay stereos need a wired connection to the phone so you'll need to think about cable routing, etc.

Alpine launched a fully wireless CarPlay unit a couple of months ago in the US but there's no details yet of when it'll be available over here.
