Dave, have you tried it in another usb port onthe laptop? i had a little hassle when doing mine and had to use one at the rear of the lappy in the end (one thats otherwise unused) to get it to converse

Thanks to the guide Lee posted.

Basically, Vag-Com was reporting the cable on Com3 when it wasn't.
I forced the USB serial port to become Com1 - then tried (not in car) and Vag-com wasn't reporting finding the cable on any port. However, thanks the additional blue writing in the guide, I went and tried it in the car on Com1 and bingo. :cartman:

Now to get it re-registered with Ross-Rech.

ok I've seen VAG-COM Release 504-1 also, is this a newer one still? :confused:

Yea, I believe it is newer again and I think they is another newer version too.

can anyone help me, i changed the port on the cable and now it says port inaccessable even tho it says in my device manager that post is selected to the cable?
