Fitted the eBay short shifter today. Have set it to the shortest adjustment, so much nicer to drive without feeling like you're moving the gear stick a foot when you change gear!

Are these hard to fit Alex?

They are very easy to fit, didn't take more than 5 minutes! One of my favourite mods so far.

You can follow the forge short shifter instructions if you're unsure :)

Just fitted the rs4 fprv, new fuel filter and fresh 5w40 oil.

RS4 valve took about 45 mins to do, fiddly but didn't require removal of inlet manifold which helped!

Got my Team Heko wind deflectors through today, fitted nicely and came with enough clips to secure them all in!

Looking good mate :)

Cheers dude!

Another small update, replaced the front door speakers with some Vibe Slick 6 comps as they were on offer! Haven't routed the Vibe tweeters yet as undecided on what to do with them. Overall sounds seems crisper and bass sounds better!

Speakers were £44.99 and the auto leads Sak-3103 adapters were £8.99 off eBay. The adapters needed trimming on the edge to fit but otherwise really pleased with the finish.

Have also received our walnut inlet valve cleaner at work, so will be looking to clean the inlet valves at some point soon!

Cars coming along nicely buddy, what does the RS4 valve actually do? I've seen people change it on quite a few Cupra's but never known why.

My mate/future brother on law uses one at the BMW dealership where he works and say they are brilliant as the new minis have problems like the seats with the carbon build up.

Thanks mate, slow progress as got to many weddings and stag do's this year so had to put a few things on hold, even a holiday .

The RS4 valve basically allows the fuel pressure to hold peak pressure without cracking the return valve open. The standard one opens at 130 bar, so with a Revo 2+ file that requests up to and over 130 bar the valve will open, even more so if it's weaker.

Some people say replacing it with a stock one could fix the fact it may be weak and under performing, but the rs4 valve allows for more headroom as it doesn't open until 136 bar.

Yeah I've used the inlet cleaner on our Peugeot THP engines which are actually BMW ones, works very well and the kit has just become standard issue. So I only need to buy the walnut shells and intake spray/cleaner which is around £50 for what I need.

Got round to doing the inlet valve cleaning today. Took about 5 hours start to finish, very pleased with the results and seems to be a lot free revving and wants to pull.

Car has done 67k, previously had a forced inlet terra clean done (knew the guy so was cheap) which I can confirm does absolutely nothing.

I work for Peugeot and have access to a media blaster kit which made short work of the carbon, still required a spray to break down some of the more stubborn carbon deposits.

Definitely worth doing, just need to get the water methanol kit ordered now.

One thing I've seen posted lately is you may want to fit a penny washer under the nut when you fit the short shifter. Some of them have a tendency to work loose and can destroy the selector input shaft on the gearbox where it mounts.

Going to take majority of the day to get it all nice and tidy but can't wait to see the results after! Will be running it on the quantum screen wash until I get my hands on some deionised water and methanol. But £9.12 for 20 litres of it was a bargain!

Couple of things.

Have you checked the short shifter for free play? Mine needed a washer fitted to it to clamp it down properly. Have a look at this vid: https://www.facebook.com/alex.kerr.963/videos/o.529405700525327/10153333587457244/?type=2&theater

Second point: The TPS Screenwash. Utterly utterly useless. Wait until you get some proper Meth and de-ionised water - it will be worth it. Keep the screenwash for the washers.

Other than that - awesome work and progress. The RFD and inlet clean make a huge difference :)

Cheers for the advice dude, I posted about that a couple of posts above. Mines been fine so far checked it the other day. Saw the same vid on tfsi tuning .

I'm just going to use some to make sure it's all working properly and to do some initial setting up.

Looking at where to order the methanol from and looks like jennychem are the ones to order from. And deionised water is cheap enough from euro car parts
