I found this site via google after searching for a solution to the flashing glow plug light on the dash and loss of brake lights...

The problem is that all the solutions ive found say to replace the brake light switch, which I have done. Also fitted new bulbs and checked the brake light fuse

Is there anything else I can try? Before paying a garage to check?

One thing worth noting is that the LED strip brake light is lit yet dim whenever the car is running and lights up properly when I press the brake pedal

Does this sound familiar to anyone here? Any advice would be great!

Hi there.

Did you get the OEM brake light switch?

Have you checked the poles on the rear light to see if power is getting there? Check also the rear light cluster plug.

Once upon a time I mistakenly put a single-filament bulb into the rear light cluster of a Leon 1M (should have been a twin-filament). I'm not even sure how I got it to fit!

The point is, it caused an ABS light (as it was a 1.4 petrol) - by back feeding voltage to the brake light switch when the sidelights were turned on.

Could be something similar?

Thanks for taking time to reply :)

Ive solved it! Seems one the bulb holders had shorted. Managed to fix it and everything is back to normal now :D
