They may also introduce the 1.6 high performance motor to homologate the engine for international rally / race classes.

Would be nice to see a 1.6 cupra spec car released.

Do they need to?

FIA S2000 regs already have a 1.6T in the WTCC cars, which transfers to the WRC if required.

Not sure if you can use any engine for all classes. Don't some classes require the engine to have been fitted to the chassis you are competing with.

The full works guys may not have any issues but group N and similar would need a matched engine / chassis package.

I doubt anyone's busting a gut to use an Ibiza in any kind of motorsport (except the Ibiza one make championship!) - I'm struggling to find the R4 regulations that this might fit into though. Either way it'd be whooped by Evo's and Subaru's in the same class.

I'd hope they just make the 1.4TSi reliable, and focus on getting that right. The Leon III needs the 1.6T, so I doubt very much it'll be in the Ibiza (thus over shadowing the Leon range)

I think that's still a year or two of yet. Not convinced VW would use the facelift Ibiza to debut it either. We'll soon find out anyway.

The basic version looks ****. But thinking about it, who on here has a boggo spec E or S Ibiza? Everyone buys the SE/ Sport or upwards... so its kinda irrelevant for the UK :)

Might be the R3 rules it would be suitable for. Citroen have a DS3 1.6t in R3 spec and I think others are following suit. Or there's R2 which this N/A powered Skoda is running in: http://www.rallybuzz.com/skoda-fabia-r2-rally/

My next car is deffo gunna be an Audi though, :p Or if i make it, a Range Rover Sport :) in which case i will be muy happy (not going to happen though!)

Seat chairman James Muir suggested the company's Cupra brand of flagship hot hatches will feature more than one engine including a diesel.(Autoblog Nov.23 2011).

Found an interior picture:

Looks like nothing at all is changed inside :(

Shame as that is probably the part of the car that could most benefit from improving, I was hoping for at least a new head unit of some sort.

That is an unfinished interior I think. No chrome on the "S" on the wheel or door handles etc. Agree though if that is an idea of what it'll be like inside it is rather disappointing, would expect them to accomodate the multimedia system etc at least. DAB may be standard due to the switchover coming in.......

Looks like gloss B-Pillar trims :) there could be some nice little touches in the facelift that can be lifted for the pre-facelift models

I hope they give the facelift LED taillights. I'd love to retro fit some of those to my cupra. The reason I say is because they have changed the leons lights for 2012 and they look sweet!
