Ive successful replaced the old Mk5 steering wheel with a FR Mk5 one. However the horn wont work on my new steering wheel, but when putting the old steering wheel back on it works. Any ideas how i can get the horn to work with the FR steering wheel?

Just a few questions, have you replaced that non FR steering wheel for an FR steering wheel of the same age or series of MK5 Ibiza, and did either steering wheel have any extra different functions on it?

Been there.... solved that...

The only thing you need to do is find a bad airbag unit >=2010 and take the 4 white parts and put them in your airbag... horn will work even better than in the original steering wheel :)

This is yours:

This is what you need:

I thought it was going to be something like that. Do you know if those white parts can be brought by themselves? What are they called.

Thanks for you help :p

I investigated a lot at the time, I think that they cannot be bought sepparatly.
I didn't even found the name, i don't think it has a name at all....

So I got to an exploded airbag and removed it and put it in mine..

scrap yard.

those parts I believe were changed around 06/2010 (not sure)

Just out of curiosity which year is your car and the donator car?

Can you see the difference? in this two steering wheels?

the horn is activated when this is pressed against the steering wheel:

SO the plastic mounds on the steering wheel arent big enough to contact the metal tabs to start the horn. You think if i just stuck metal pieces on the tabs that would do it?

dont mess with the airbags putting metal where is not suppose to be... if one goes loose it will damage the wires and cause shorts, and other situations, etc...

Hello

Did you put a facelift steering wheel onto a non facelift car?

I´m planning to get a facelift FR/cupra flat-bottom one to go in my 2009 diesel, not sure it doable?
Will i also have the horn problem?
