Warning Lights...

Hi Guys,

I bought my Seat Ibiza from a " dealer" 2 days a go, I thought it was a bit sketchy and should have trusted my instincts.
Last night I noticed 3 warning lights come on after work, I haven't noticed these before and I am pretty sure I would have noticed.

Any suggestions?
This is my first car and lack any relatives that have any idea about cars.

As there seemed to be a picture that has vanished - maybe, do these lights stay on while you are driving or are you just worried about some lights that come on when you switch the ignition on - like HANDBRAKE ON, CHARGING FAILURE and Electronic Power Control (EPC) ?

I think that that is what should come on and stay on prior to engine start, maybe another one that comes on and then goes off if you wait long enough - I've forgotten!

The EPC Light, The Exhaust System light and the Battery light come on when I start the ignition but when I start the engine the lights turn off.

Thanks for the reply!

If I'm understanding correctly, when you turn the ignition to the first click, (eg...if you left the radio on, when you last turned engine off, it comes on), you are greeted with several lights on the dash inside the revs and speedos) (yellow, orange, and possibly green).

After you start the engine, these lights will slowly one by one go off, unless of course you forgot to close a door properly, or hand handbrake on, or your front passenger didn't put theri seatbelt.

I have a 66 plate Ibiza, and this is all pretty normal routine to me.

It's only when some orange / yellow lights that remain on even after you have started engine and driven a bit, is when I would worry. Exceptions are 'service due soon' and 'low washer fluid' reminders that drive me bananas!

Btw, which Ibiza have you got engine/year wise?

Yea, the lights do go off after I start the engine but they, they turn stay on with just the ignition on.
I have a 63 plate Ibiza 1.2 TSI FR.

All those lights on my 66 plate Ibiza (slightly different dash layout though) stay on if I turn the ignition to the first click. Even for a full 15 mins if I don't start the engine. once engine started it goes off within a couple of seconds.

I wouldn't worry, this is pretty normal. Same with my previous Mk3 Leon.
