Hello,

I've bought some OEM side skirts for my Leon and am looking to install them this weekend.

It says they are screwed and bonded onto the car. Can anyone suggest what they should be bonded with?

Thanks.

I installed oem skirts on my driveway. They aren't screwed to the body exactly but held in place with brackets which connect to the skirt and then clip over the seam weld underneath. Did the skirts come with the fitting kit? For bonding agent I originally bought the seat bonding pack but the adhesive had cured so unusable. I ended up using a bead of no more nails silicone as it should come off pretty easy when it's time to return the car. Skirts been on for some time with no issues.

Teroson MS 9220 310 ml cartridge

Will post some pictures when done.

Damn didn’t know RS sold it as I would’ve just bought it from there! Have you got the applicator gun?

Yes it looks like a standard gun so should be fine with that. I didn't bother with other parts of the kit:

1u. ADHESIVE Teroson MS 9220 310 ml cartridge
1u. PRIMER Teroson MS 8517 25 ml container
6 u. PRE-TREATMENT Teroson VR 10 pre-treatment wipe
1 u. SPATULA
5 u. SWABS for applying primers
1 u. Applicator nozzle

An am sure it will be fairly straightforward.

Only thing i would recommend is to make sure you prep the surfaces, so lightly abrade both surfaces with 320 grit, then wipe over with IPA or brake cleaner using a lint free cloth til it comes off clean. Then aim to apply the adhesive to both surfaces within 30 mins. Should really be left to cure in a warm environment 20°C ish.

Some photos of the side skirts pre-application.

Initial thought are that they feel well made and are very shiny!

The kit is the genuine OEM one, so comes with the brackets, screws, fixings and instructions needed to fit it. As far as I know you only need the adhesive as an extra item.

The colour is gloss black (similar to the car). Didn't notice it was metallic. I think it's sprayed by the manufacturer to be the same colour as the standard paint colour on the car. You can also buy them pre-painted in a number of other SEAT colours.

Am fitting tomorrow so will post if there are any problems.

Nice one I look forward to seeing the pics. My car is Mystery Blue but I'm going with black skirts, splitter and diffuser. I think it will look really nice along with Pano roof.

@seventen710, did you manage to get the side skirts fitted today?

Hello yes I did get these fitted. Here are some before and after photos:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/cHjg3X3R5BWVWPbs1

I think it's subtle but looks great. Makes the car seem lower and enhances the lines. Really pleased with it.

Regarding fitting, it took a while to work out the instructions for the first one, but by the time it was understood the second one took about 20 min.

They look really good. Was the fitting easy once you worked out the instructions? Did you have to drill any holes in the original body work? What adhesive did you end up using?
Definitely wanting a set for my Cupra.

No drilling needed at all. Yes it was easy once the instructions were figured out.

I used "Teroson MS 9220 310 ml cartridge" from RS components for the adhesive, but it really requires very little of this (you can buy the smaller volume).
