Had a my Leon Cupra TDi 150 throw an engine management light up at me on Christmas day... Thanks car!! Needed that lol

Took it to a mate who plugged it in to the KTS system he has at his work and it brought up the glow plug on 4 with an intermittent fault...

This is no biggy and he's reset the light and it hasn't come back on yet. But when I've been looking for some replacements they show certain engine codes for the ones I was looking at here::

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-LEON-1-9-SDi-TDi-BOSCH-HEATER-GLOW-PLUG-X-4-1998-2004-/110756657587?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c99c79b3#ht_1534wt_1037

Can anyone tell me how I go about finding my engine code or if the ones listed on there are all the TDi's that are available??
Do I need any specific special one's for the 150 TDi?

Yes, we had the management light come on just before christmas, for glow plugs.

You will need a 10 mm extended socket.

I took off the air pipe as that give much better access and does not take long.

For me, the first three were very tight, but came undone without any drama.

No. 4 was not tight, it just span round. I never used any force on it and am 99% sure it was broken before I touched it. I tried to break the top off, so as to drill into the centre then use an easy out, but all I have succedded in doing is making a mess of it. I wish I hadnt touched it now.

"A man" is going to look at it on Friday, but I am expecting him to take one look and say "head off".

Bugger bugger bugger.

Was it number 4 that was showing on the code?? Could this be why it was reading as a fault?? Am not thinking i'm up for looking into doing this myself now after all... Nothing ever goes to plan when I do bits myself and I don't want to balls it all up!!

I'll have a look and if one of them spins before I do anything to it then it's getting left well alone and I'll be living with it lol

It was actually no. 3 that the fault code gave.

I do think that no. 4 was not in a good way before I touched it.

Nos 1, 2, & 3 were all very tight, but game out with no problem.

No. 4 just span straight away.

Anyway, there is a man going to look at it tomorrow. I am expecting the bad new that it will be a head off job.

If you could remove the glow plugs from the engine management light, so the light was not on constantly, I would leave it, it starts perfectly.
