hi people about had enough of my seat ibiza cupra nothing but problems since i got it. i have been having boost problems since i had to change the engine. i have replaced vacum and boost hoses , airflow meter manifold sensors and still nothing improves. i have recently noticed a drop in power . so me and my mate had a look at the car in more detail and discovered that the car is burning alot of oil so we checked the boost hoses for the fmic and we found quite alot of oil in them then we had a look at the turbo and the back of the engine from the turbo to the sump including any hoses in covered in oil . i dont have a ramp so cant identify it properly . can anyone tell me what is wrong please.:wtf:

the problems ive been having are like a boost leak the car is also quite stuttery and when pulling away from a junction normally its like it wants to cut out but then its fine

Top it up then leave it idleing from cold and when its warm give it a rev.
If it puffs out smoke then its could be your turbo seals, or valve stems.

Whats the mileage?

will try it tomorrow but the car smokes when pulling away from junctions and if the car is heated up sitting idleing the first rev there is a puff of smoke if you rev straight away again it doesnt smoke but if you let it idle for a min there is a puff again. it seems like the longer it idles the worse the puff is

the milage is 128000 but i replaced the engine with a rebuilt one at 118000 but as i say everything near the turbo is covered in oil and it drips off the bottom of the sump

to me it sounds like the head isn't sealed properly if its dripping like that.

I had same problem regarding a puuf of smoke after it had been sitting idleing, this turned out to be valve stem seals were shot and also 4 valve guides.

Hi there I don't think its the engine at all due to rebuild . Sometimes when I start it from cold it has a loud whine which stops just before the revs drop . I was out in it today and was stuck in traffic and everytime I moved lots of smoke came out the back and its losing more power

have you been able to check around the turbo and all the oil ways?

If its using that much oil and creating smoke like that it is either engine or turbo. if its engine it will be valve stems, or piston rings, if its turbo its most likely turbo seals and the whine could be a crack in the turbo.

as said above get it up on ramps or on a axle stands clean up everything and then run it and see where it comes from. the fact its smoking after sitting at idle sounds like valve stems to me, but thats just because its what mine did until i forged my engine over christmas

Will try getting it clean and see where its coming from the reason I think its the turbo is because when I was fixing boost leaks whenever I took off a boost hose there was quite a bit of oil in them . I have a spare turbo but I am just trying to work out if it is the turbo before I fit it not wanting to spend ages changing it for nothing.

You say that there is oil in the charge air pipes, The only oil to air interface on the car is the turbo, thats what i would be looking at first, big puff of smoke when accelerating also points to turbo. Two symtoms caused by the same problem . You have a spare turbo so that is half the battle already. Hope this helps, my experience is with much bigger engines but same principals apply.

I got similar problem, I have to ad almost a liter for a 1000km/620 miles, engine underneath is clean. Then turbo is what I should check?
