Looking at replacing all 4 corners on my 1.6 tdi 2014 ibiza fr.

Currently swaying towards Toyo Proxes CF2's however looking for opinions.

Not looking for something race car like however not looking for opposite so something in middle with good fuel and wet ratings would be ideal.

Which tyre size you running? 215/45 R16s?

My FR runs 215/40 R17s Black Tagus rims...

Can tell you what NOT to get, and they are those awful Bridgestones...

Yeah mate running 215/45/16 the now. Looking at getting a set of those tagus rims in the future but for now will stick to the 16s.

Seen reviews on Bridgestones and wasn't entirely convinced by them so they weren't even goign to be an option...

215/45 16" offers a limited choice and because of which are expensive when compared to 205/45, hence I now run 205/45.

For me I'd fit Kumho's KU39. I'd steer clear of Toyo as they are more a comfort tyre and therefore, have a very soft sidewall which may struggle on the front of a diesel, also from experience with Toyo's they are not the best in standing water..

Are you running 205/45 R16 tyre on a rim meant for 215/45?

I guess this means the rims would be very suceptible to curbing?

Correct, i'm running 205/45 R16 on a rim designed for approx. 8" wide tyres.

With 5mm less each side yes you maybe more susceptible to curb damage, but TBH if your going to have the misfortune of touching a curb I doubt that 5mm will make much difference..

Oh I never knew this was possible, but I learn something everyday. Perhaps alloygators so rims don't curb.

I do have a bit of rubber 'sticking out' past the rim,

so far so good, for minor 'kisses' with the curb. Touch wood, haven't had a bit impact with the curb yet.

Regarding tyres...@gth_14... perhaps go with the well known brands or OEM ones? If not Toyo.

Avon ZV7, Goodyear EGP, Michellin Primacy 3s...

If going down to 205s, there are more choices too.
