when driving (my mk1 seat leon 110bhp Tdi) sometimes when i go to over take or get on to the motorway there's a loss in power.

for example: the other day i was getting on the motorway in 4th gear at 65mph then felt the acceleration stop and speed kept at 65 mph. i then went into 5th gear and there was no acceleration it took a longer amount of time increase to 70 mph.

i've found that if i turn the engine of then back on the problem goes, but then a few days later it will return.

would appreciate it anyone could help me out with any suggestions etc.

cheers

Silly question but can you get over 70mph when its in this state?
If you cant I feel that Limp mode might be kicking in on the car

Mine refuses to go above 70 and the turbo is practically non existent when in limp mode.
This could be caused by many things. You could take it to your dealer and ask if they'll do a free VAG-COM and they'll tell you what's wrong.

If not one of the many users on here will have one (I don't though sorry)

Where do you live, I can run vag com on it if you live near enough, I would say try a new maf sensor

Don't know if you have sorted it yet, but the breather pipe around the EGR valve might have a blockage. I had a similar problem in my old 110 TDI SX which only seemed to happen after the car had been sat around in the hot sun at work all day. You may see what looks like oil around the EGR valve. I got a VW independent specialist to sort it for me, they disconnected the breather pipe and cleaned it out after a dealer suggested the EGR valve needed replacing. There were no problems after that until I sold it.

Actuator

I had exactly the same problem with exactly the same car.Sounds like a taxi no whoosh or whistle. Shows up as a boost deviation intermittent fault in code reader after much checking, replacing n75 valve and repeated shouting finally traced it back to a vacuum leak in the actuator for the turbo. The diaphragm was perished. If it is the actuator im afraid its £mucho hundred pounds + VAT from seat (they only sell them attached to the turbo) Chance a breaker might split one from the turbo or click over to see the lovely guys at forge motorsports and look for one there. FMACVAG04 for 90 to 150 tdi with garret vnt turbo did the trick for me after many weeks of frustration. Around 130 quids delivered plus whatever your local mechanic charges for fitting. Try getting it code read and take it from there vaccuum test shouldnt be too expensive if vag doesnt find anything Good Luck and hope its the n75! i cant post links but have a look here (add the www . )w.myturbodiesel.com/1000q_how_to/multi/limpmodetdi.htm

Seat Leon - loss of power

I have a problem with my Seat Leon 1.9tdi (53)

When I start the engine, and it is idling, it is juddering and feels like it wants to stall.

When I am driving around, I feel a severe loss of power and when trying to accelerate I get a pause before it wants to pull away.

I have an engine ECU remap 2 years ago and all was well, the problem comes and goes but lately is always there. It stems from a crash I had a little under 2 years ago where the front passenger side was smashed in. It was fully repaired but has never felt the same since and the last month the car feels really bad. When I pull out of a junction, the car feels like it wants to stall, pauses and then pulls away and if I put my foot down, I get a blow of dark smoke out of the back.

Anyone any ideas ? A few garages look at it and no-one can help. I am hoping someone here may be able to help ? I have no experiance with cars so be gentle with me !

It has been plugged in and no fault codes are shown.

Many thanks
Deane
