Every time I go over the car this time of year I'm not getting all the flies that have welded themselves to the car. Wingmirrors and bumper look poop.
I'm using a basic shampoo, but do I need a better product and give them a good soaking? Any other tips? I'm going to buy some clay so I want to get the little fellas off before I do that.

Cheers.

Warwickshire once.
You could also use a soft towel to remove them..... Dipped in hot soapy water.

Put it on the car and allow it to soak onto the dried up flies then wipe straight off.

Use a good quality wax once washed and cleaned, the bugs virtually fall off when hosing down on a pre wash.

Lambswool wash mitt with a fly remover (netting) on one side of it.

But like somebody already said, if its well waxed and you wash it regualarly they shouldnt be difficult to get off.
