Lack Of Power, (FUEL PUMP)?

Hi, Ive got a 2004 leon cupra tdi 150bhp. Ive owned the car for 2 years and know both the previous owners. Has 120 000 on the clock but fsh.

From cold start up theres a lack of power, almost feels as if the turbo isnt kicking in. After a couple of minutes it clears and is running perfect with loads of power. Take it down the ring road and give it a good blast, get to 75-80mph and the car goes into limp mode. No lights come on the dash though. Turn it off and on and its fine again.

Recently had it serviced thought this may fix the prob but hasnt. New fuel filter, air filter, new maf sensor fitted. But the problem is still there.

A year ago it was doing the same thing, I changed the fuel filter and it was fine, solved the problem. The problem has since came back.

Spoke to a guy who works for the RAC and he seems 99% sure its the fuel pump.

Just wondered if any one else has ever had this problem?

I'd be more confident saying that the turbo vanes are begining to stick as fuel pressure issues are very rare on pd lumps. The fact that it's going into limp mode strongly supports the above turbo theory also.

How would you clean the turbo?

Other than removing it and sending it to a turbo specialist that is.

You were all right, thanks. The vanes are sticking and the guy said its overboosting to 30.

He wants £1000+Vat to do the job. I can get a Recon turbo for £280 though so does this sound a lil expensive?

What would you suggest in way of Turbo's i.e Recon, New, or uprated?

The cars standard the only thing I want to do in the future is have it remapped. Thats as far as I want to go with it.

You could have a new turbo fitted for around a grand, that price is an outright con.

Also most Bosch "specialist" outfits are no more experienced than any other garage - they've just paid to have Bosch on their building and own some Bosch equipment (I know as much because there is one near us in Oldham, not only are they shite at the job they also massively overcharge their not very regular customers).

Cheers thats great, I will try the mr muscle. Im picking the car up tomorrow.

As for the fact its a Bosch garage i see what your saying. Its not the name above the door that matters its the mechanics that work there. And if there **** then your ****ed.
