My other halfs PD150 Mk1 has started making a chirp/whistle/wheeze when changing gear. It's very much like a dump valve sound! This has only started recently,

Any idea what would cause this?

I'd be investigating for boost leaks first.
Work your way around the pipework looking for signs of oil drops or misting.
Pay particular attention to the one attached to the EGR valve and either sides of the intercooler.

Mine makes a similar sound to a 20vt dv, through the standard airbox. Everything is connected fine, only does it when you lift off the accelerator on boost. I don't think its anything to worry about dude.

Thanks, Good to hear you say not to worry Matt. My only concern is it didn't used to do it.

I made up a test piece in order to check it for leaks before xmas, with 20psi in I can hear a VERY tiny leak which sounds like its coming from the lower nearside of the intercooler but until the weathers decent I don't fancy taking the undertray off and getting underneath. It must only be a tiny leak.

The above produces a minor hiss (hardly anything) under acceleration, I didn't think it would cause the "chirp" when pressing the clutch when changing gear while on boost. It doesn't do it when accelerating gently.
