I need to change the cambelt and I have now read the procedure about 10 times, I am happy with it but there seem to be so many different tools around.

Could anyone tell me if the Laser 1868 (http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?item=547) kit is the right one for me.

I know I also need a tool for the tensioner and to hold the cam sprocket, could anyone help with the cheapest way to source these please.

Like mentioned in the title I drive a 2002 SEAT Leon 1.9 TDi SE (ASV engine).

All help is appreciated.

I've never done this, I'm only going by what it says in Elsawin, but you need to immobilise the camshaft and the injection pump. The set you've linked to says it is for immobilising the camshaft and crankshaft.

Thanks for that link it is really helpful, I have access to some machine tools and am considering making some tools, is there any chance you could give me the dimensions of your tools if that is ok?

Thanks for the help

Fishy, that set is for PD engines which don't have an injection pump to lock. The tool they have said ss the injection pump locking tool is also labelled as OEM tool 20102, which is the camshaft locking pin for the PD engine.

So that set is good for a PD engine: but given their mislabelling I'd be wary of trusting their literature when buying a set of tools. Best to check with another reference if you can.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help, does anyone have the dimensions of the correct tools if possible? It would be really appreciated :)

Also are there any specialist tools that I would need to complete the job (other than the standard timing belt tools)

Thanks again

Just a thought.

Does anyone have the tools for the cambelt that I might be able to borrow? I am in Oxford however most weekends I am in Exeter (and occasionally in Bournemouth).
