Anyone ordered the Mk3 Leon

Congrats, nice choice, and welcome to the fold.

Latest news from my lease compnay is that the dealer anticipates placing an official order for the FR184 with Seat in March, with delivery being late June / early July. I'm just going to have bide my time. Wouldn't be entirely shocked if there are further delays. I'm going to buy my existing lease car at the end of it's contract (May) and run it until the new one arrives. Fortunately I've already got a buyer for it (my Dad) when the new one arrives.

It seems that I'm one of the few that hasn't gone for the technology pack. I'll admit it's a great deal, however for me personally, I'm not particularly bothered by LED lights, don't listen to the radio (just music on USB stick), and I've got a Sat Nav through work. Obviously an in-built Sat Nav is neater, but to be honest I hardly ever use it anyway.

Thanks :)

One of my work colleagues came across today and said he had been to the local Seat dealer and the salesman had dejectedly told him December for the FR184!

Decided to make a couple of phone calls to other non-local dealers. The first one just said "watch this space". He had no prices, and no indication from Seat when they would be ordering / shipping. The second dealer (where my lease car is supposedly being sourced from) said he'd never heard of an FR184!!! He wasn't aware that Seat were doing a 184 diesel version, and was only aware of a 150 diesel version. The more I talked to him, the more I was convinced he didn't actually know what a car was.

The first dealer I spoke to has a 150FR as a demonstrator. For me, in order to actually get a vehicle within a sensible timescale I may have to adjust my sights and go for this (probably on a shorter contract). Availabilty from the garages I spoke to seems to be bewteen 9 and 12 weeks. Hopefully the 184 will be available in 2 years time!

In January I downloaded the PDF for Seat price list. In there was listed the FR184, with a side note stating that delivery to dealer was anticipated to be June. If you download the price list now the FR184 is no longer listed. Clearly they're not pushing this model despite reviews popping up in the media.

I hope I'm wrong and that those who have ordered a 184 get it sooner rather than later.

I tried to order a FR184 tdi from my local dealer on Saturday but they wouldn't take an order on this model. The manager said that it was unlikely to be available before November at the earliest.
I have now ordered the 1.8 tsi which I have been told I should get by June.

So I have a weird question.
Can the new Leon be equipped with mudflaps? From all the different brochures (including the accessories one) I can't find anything. Maybe the dealers have more information?
I live in northern Europe and about 4-5 months there's snow. So mudflaps, to me, are a must.

184 order

hi i originally put deposite down in nov for the 184 but when i went to see the lh model the dealer said it would be best to have the 150 as they were told 184 in dec so i initially said ok but on reading on the forum members said they were told june , so i emailed seat direct about 6 weeks ago and they phoned me to say they had contacted the operations manager at the factory and he said june so i phoned dealer and they said they would contact seat themselves so about 3 days later they said they had been told june / july so i said i wanted to revert back to my original order i placed in nov for a 184 they said ok as of yet i have had no reply to say otherwise so again this is getting confusing and different stories

I found a parts brochure online for the new Leon but there were no mudflaps in it. It was the UK version though. Your country may be different.

When ordering my 1,4FR in February, the local dealer told that mud laps are not yet available and as they install them in our country by default, then it might be that even when receiving car in May, they install these laps later.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I'll be visiting the dealer during the spring/early summer and have a talk with 'em there.

EDIT: @Nganasan - saw your other post in the 1.4 TSI thread. Turns out we're both from Estonia!

new car inbound

Hi all,
new member, currently driving a mk6 Golf GT TDI 140.
Just ordered a Leon FR150 in red, with technology pack, alcantara, spare wheel, mud flaps and 18" alloys.
Due to get the car in the next week or two, can't wait!

Test drive was excellent - car felt lighter and more nimble than the golf. Love the new satnav/computer system.

Had a look at the Mk7 Golf, but the Leon is nicer looking and much better value in my opinion!

Will post more once the car is on my driveway! Cant wait to go for a drive with the LED lights!

cheers

Andy:)

Jaybob, yesterday I decided to draw a line under my pursuit of an FR184, cancelling my order with the lease company. Today they confirmed cancellation of the 'order' with the dealer, so I placed an order for the FR150 TDi, same spec, i.e. 18's and metallic paint. However I went for a two year contract so that I can go for the 184 in a couple of years time (assuming I still actually want one) - if it's out by then!

To be honest, I'm not expecting the FR150 to have the same performance as my CR170. Less power and the CR engine is broken in nicely. As long as I feel comfortable in it, it's got half decent performance, and a bit of style, I'm reasonably happy.

It's a shame it's come to this for those hoping to get an FR184. It all feels a bit rushed by Seat. I appreciate that they've not actively advertised it on the website, but the dealers appear to have been happy to take 'orders', and the media continue to review it without any mention that they may not be available for some time.

Just got news that confirmed production week for my 1,4 FR (140) is already next week and car might arrive at the beginning of April. Order was placed 3 weeks ago, which means delivery time form order to receiving car might be approximately 2 months instead first told 3 months .

test drive 150

after dealer phoned on thursday to say 184 delivery now nov / dec they asked me to take 150 for test well it drove quite good and in sport mode it seems as quick as my 170 and the specs show it about 0.2 of a second slower than the 170 , so now i decided not to wait and ordered the 150 like my 184 original order of con pack 18" wheels tech pack and space saver they said they would give me the original trade in price for my 170 they quoted of which was £1000 higher than the glasses quote i had last night . they said they have located one in the system with same spec delivery end of next week /early week after .

Glad to hear you got it sorted, and also glad to hear that you were suitably impressed with 150. Even more impressed how soon you will be getting it. The lease company that we use told me when I re-placed my order on Thursday that it could be 12-14 weeks, but they are going to check around 'their dealers' and see if one can be sourced sooner (although I don't need it until the beginning of May). As usual I will have to chase them for an update.

I find it quite reassuring that so many other people have now been told Nov/Dec for the 184 as I didn't believe my dealer when he told me that and wouldn't take an order for one.
I did go last week and test drive the 150 but had already made up my mind if I liked the general feel of the car to put in an order for the 184.
I wish I had thought about the sports mode when I had the test drive in the 150. I never even thought about that and just felt that it didn't quite have the power of my current 170.

As stated earlier in this thread I came away having ordered a 1.8 tsi which will be a complete change for me as my last 4 cars have been diesels (2 Leons and previosly VW Golf tdi's). I don't do very high annual mileage and do lots of short jouneys during the week and so I don't think the lower mpg will bother me too much especially with cheaper petrol prices than diesel.

Having read reports of how good the 1.4 tsi is to drive I'm really looking forward to getting my 1.8 hopefully as I've been told around May/June. I've ordered the 1.8 tsi but not heard from anyone else who has or read any reviews of it. I've ordered it in non metalic red with 18" wheels and the tech pack at £500. The salesman said that although he's only had half a dozen orders for the new Leon so far, everyone has ordered it with the reduced price tech pack.

I have decided that I am going to stick it out for the 184 even though it will be a long wait. I hope you realise that you get lesser spec rear suspension and smaller brakes with the 150 and lower models. It's only the 180 petrol and 184 diesel that get the bigger brakes all round and the multi link rear suspension. It's just aswell that I really love my mark 2 170!

I thought the 150 and above got the multilink rear suspension and bigger brakes?

My dealer told me that the fr150 I have ordered comes with the better suspension anyway?

When the mark 3 Leon was first announced it did state the 150 and above would have the bigger brakes and multi link suspension but now this has been corrected to say that only the 180 and 184 will get this. Check out the online brochure on Seat's website. Hope this news doesn't disappoint you.
