I posted this up a while ago but i'm going to repost it to see if you can have a fresh look at it.

When i put a new thread up on the tdiclub forums, there is a button next to the proposed thread title that says "has this been asked before" when you click it, it does a search based on what you've entered into the subject of your new post.

I'm well aware it won't be a catch all but maybe it would go some way towards redressing the balance.

Cheers M0rk, i thought it was time to repost it now that you've got more moderators asyou always said in the past that time was the problem with looking at stuff like this :)

I suppose you could always label the button in bold red text, however i'm sure you can come up with something equally subtle ;)

Most people would read whatever the button text said as "Ignore me" :(

Good idea though

I think it's a small change but one more step that exists before moderation is required, if it only saves one person more a day, it should be a zero maintenance addition which makes it good value.

Personally I like it because you can click it, it brings up related titles, if you can't see at a quick glance one that matches yours then you post the new one. On the basis most are here to learn and not be post *****s, it may help a few.

Anyway you don't want it helping everyone as you'd have nothing to do and i know how short tempered you can all get ;)

Seem to remember it was the next version of this software that supported it when this feature was last discussed .... but could be wrong

Roll on next forum upgrade :D

Yup, you're right, but that's looking like Q3 this year at the moment - this might be a short term fix

Hi guys,

Sorry to bring up a "very" old thread again, but thought it could be a worthwhile addition....

Its being used on another forum that I gave feedback on, and so far it is going well. Has cut down on alot of similar threads.

However its is different to the button that is shown in this one, it now does an automatic search for recent threads with words in the title.

Think it has been updated since this thread was started.

Breakdown of what happens:

1. You type your title as normal, but read the notice underneath.

2. When you click into the text box it then starts to search for similar threads

3. Similar threads show, and hopefully you will find info in there and not have to start a new thread.

Hope you like.....

Found it, installed it & it's not working

Probably due to our templates.... But when I have more time I'll have a better play
