'ESP Fault' intermittent message

Hi all,

I have a strange issue on my 2009 2.0tdi Leon FR (common rail engine).

Occasionally when I start the car I get a warning message on the dash screen that reads "ESP Fault". It then goes off and no warning lights are illuminated on the dash. There's no noticeable symptoms at all.

I have had it plugged in to check for fault codes but nothing flashes up.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

I had the same fault once at start up and it was a faulty battery, it flashed up as the engine fired then went out about 1 second later and no fault codes recorded.

I recently had "ESP fault" flash up on the MFD but also had the associated trio of dash lights as if the battery had been disconnected (lights went off after a short drive). Scanned it and had a fault code related to low voltage. In my case it turned out to be a dodgy battery.

dont be fooled by the light, it can also indicate a engine fault, Get vcds on the car and it will get it
