Just got my car tax renewal through and its at £205 for a year!
I though "hang on a minute that can't be right" so called up the DVLA and found out that my leon cupra is in the 2nd highest banding for car tax based on CO2 emmisions! surely that can't be right!?
It really f*cks me off, as I drive a very well maintened car, the option of public transport isn't there for my journey to work as it would take approx 3 hours versus half hour in the car....I'm paying £50 + for one tank of petrol due to massive ammounts of tax!
I said to the lady on the phone at the DVLA "so what am I getting out of my £205" and she said "it's your road tax"....so I said "no I mean what does it go towards" and the reply was "the general up keep and maintenance of the roads"
Now not being funny.....but the roads in my town are crappy, and they are spending money on putting in speed cameras...more traffic lights....speed bumps and bus lanes" so......how is any of that helping me and my car driving for my £205!
It makes me so angry! surely somewhere there has been a mistake as its based on the Info seat gave the DVLA when the car was manufactured....so basically the reason why this thread is in the mark one section because I wont to know if its true that a 2001 Leon Cupra 180, emits 202g/km CO2?
because if it doesn' t then we are all paying too much for Road tax...I know it may be about as useful as p*ssing in the wind but sometimes you gotta stand up for things you know!
