When I quizzed my dealer about the TPI, they were very vague but indicated it only related to later models. They did say that they don't search for the TPI directly, they put your chassis number in their system and any relevant TPI's come up. I think they are trying to get away with only sorting out cars still under warranty, which is a joke as the bonnet hasn't changed since the model was introduced.

My dealer tried twice with the SEAT solution and it was a total failure but DataPro says it's cured his leak. Others have made arrangements to have theirs' done and no-one has come back to say it was useless.

I ended up doing it myself with soft rubber seals, cost was about £12-15 and takes about 45 mins. So far, bone dry.

Well my dads fl fr cr 170 had the fix done at our dealer and its cured 100% so I pupt my Cupra in and they said the fix only applies to CR 170 but as I complained they applied the same fix to mine and guess what its no better.
Earlier in this thread people have reported it works and others say it didn't.

I would love to know what the difference is between the bonnet on a FR 170 and every other Leon. You would think that with all the practice they get, dealers would be able to come up with better bull****.

Well that's a load of codswallop because the parts database for the bonnet components does not differentiate between different Leon models. I have an FR and the fix cured mine but Tim who has a Cupra, they tried 3 times to fix his. In the end he did it himself and now it's water tight upto 20m:D

The TPI listed in this thread doesn't exist but when they contact seat there is a TPI for cr 170s

If that's what the dealer told you, then he's talking crap. When I took my Cupra in last June, their system immediately brought up the TPI relating to my car. They contacted SEAT who sent them the sealing kit. When it didn't work, they confirmed with them that it was the right kit and were told it's the same kit for all.

As DataPro0 states, it's the same bonnet on all Mk II Leons.

I bought my car about 2months ago, and noticed it, I just thought it was like one of thing, checked it recently but didn't find anything, maybe it happened to me cuz of heavy rain hmm

The amount of rain doesn't really matter. Because of the design of the plastic bonnet strip, even a small amount of rain will cause water to get under it. Unless it's been sealed, if the car is parked when raining, it will get wet. Not so much if the car is being driven because a lot will get dispersed or evaporated.

I take it from your avatar, you have a facelift FR. Go and speak to LC Charles in Crewe, see what they are prepared to do about it. I've dealt with them once and I have to say, they weren't very helpful.

I called into seat today with my 2007 fr leon and was told it was a fix released for 2009 model onwards so i would have to pay for it.

He had a lot of problems finding it using the code i got from this thread and was on the phone to seat uk twice before the guy emailed him the pdf. I have the 3 page pdf he forwarded to me if it is of any use to anyone i will upload it somewhere and provide a link.

It also gives a part number for the "moulding waterproofing kit" and instructions of how to fit them

So what they are saying is that all Leons leak and the sealing kit will fix pre 2009 models as well but they will only take responsibility for post 2009 cars.

It would be interesting to see what SEAT recommend as the fix, they fitted it twice on mine and it made no difference. If you do upload it somewhere, post a link on here please.

Did the dealer give you a price for fitting it?

I didn't get a price, I was with him at least 45min and i think he just wanted me gone so he could get ready for home.

i'll ring them tomorrow with the part number and see what they say about cost

that should be post 15...
