Hi guys, got a letter from SEAT today saying that it's time for the service action on my car regarding EA189 N0x emissions, I'm assuming this is about the whole VAG group emissions scandal from a while back?

I've been told I need to call my local dealer to arrange an appointment to get it sorted. What is it they do to fix this?
Just a bit concerned that if it's anything to do with remapping or anything to sort it, they might wipe off the current map that I've got on the car.
Anyone know if I'm at any risk of this? And if it's essential I get this action done by SEAT

Hi Lee,

I'm in the same boat as yourself, got a letter yesterday and I currently have stage 1 on my CR170. I contacted Ecotune who's software i have on the car. This was there response hope it helps....

'We are led to believe this is not a mandatory upgrade it is only advised by Seat. If you do have the software flashed you will lose the Ecotune calibration, depending on what changes are made to the new software version we are unsure if we can simply reapply the software or if we will have to build a new calibration.'

I'm trying to figure out if it needs done or not, if it isn't mandatory to get it fixed then I might just leave it. Different software on the car from stock so would assume the N0x levels are lower anyway.

cheers,
Mark

Hi

Got a letter yesterday too.

I’m running revo stage 1 on my cr 170, and if seat upgrade the software it will wipe off the remap.

I think Mark is right is not a mandatory upgrade it is only advised by Seat.

I’m just ignoring the letter.

Yeah it will wipe the maps we have! I have also heard that with the fix it has affected the low down torque, no chance I'm moving away form my stage 1! Makes the car shift quite nicely!

Thanks guys, appreciate the replies. If it's only an advisory for now then I'll just ignore it, at least if I come to sell the car and I wanna remove the map for the new seller then SEAT will do it for free... haha

Surely any half decent remap has overwritten the dodgy code to cheat the emissions system anyway.

I would only apply the upgrade if the car is stock.
