it looks like it will fit mike;
but, the mfd2/3 actually screw to the dash where those lugs are. on the sat navs there is a metal frame so plastic may be a bit 'floppy' (but then again, it may not.)

if its the same as when i changed the HU in my golf ... you strip the dash down as normal, then fit the double din face plate , it uses the same fixing holes as the original, then the radio cage fixes to the face plate and you need to fabricate a support for the rear.

Yes, it will. Just done the mod myself actually, although my pocket is a little different from yours. Mine is also for an MK5 golf. You will need U-bolts and 8mm screws, I got my mine from Halfords but also had to get washers as the whole on the cage were to big for the screws. All fitted nicely and ordered the Sat Nav facia from Seat which was around £15 including VAT.
