Hi all,

I'm looking for a new head unit to replace the standard FL one, because I've spent half of the time I've owned my FL trying to scroll that stupid click-wheel looking through my iPod for songs...
Those of you with an iPod on that stereo will feel my pain I'm sure!

My question is...

Has anybody upgraded their stereo to an aftermarket one or non-VW one, and still has full iPod control through their original USB/AUX ports underneath the stereo, as well as steering controls?

If you have, what stereo is it, and did you have to fart about with getting the ports/controls to work?

THANKS :)

I've upgraded mine twice, once to the RCD310 unit and then to the RCD510, both work perfectly with inputs and steering wheel controls. They are straight plug n play devices. I had to get the bigger surround obviously.

Thanks a lot dude. I've just bought an RCD310DAB.

Did you have the DAB version? Do I need any adapters etc...?
I've bought a glass mounted DAB antenna but the connection doesn't look right!

Ah, neither units were DAB. I can't help you much with that as I've never dabbled or had experience with antennas.

Thanks again. I've been reading up and there are different connectors for different things and wires and antennas all sorts... Lol.

I'll keep digging!

Where did you get your fascia surround from? Was it a good colour match?

I have a dark silver/grey centre console.

Thanks

I think that could well be the case, both my units didn't have Bluetooth, but because I had the OEM Bluetooth kit in the car to start with it all worked seamlessly.

I got my fascia from Dave at Seres, he's on here, had to give him my car details and VIN number and he sent me the correct one. Colour match is spot on.

This isn't my car obviously, but mine's the same kind of colour.

Thanks! I spoke to Dave but he said SEAT aren't doing a very good colour match with them at the moment, not sure why.

Where I detest the idea of giving ANY dealer my money or business apart from Dave at SERE, I think I might have to go local for the fascia, because I don't want to have colour match problems.

I'll speak to Dave again first just to double check, of course!

Would it be the Delphi or the European RCD510?
