hi im wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction

ive got a 2009 leon cupra k1 that wont start

i got a vag specialist out who checked and said its got a weak spark

we checked the coil wires and all was fine untill the coil trigger wires

basically when we checked the trigger wires the most volts it came up with was 2v at most

was told it may be ecu so sent it off to be tested and repaired they have called me back today and said no faults was found ??

now im stuck because im not sure what it could be

no fault codes either

i have been advised it could be crank sensor but i dont want to throw money at something it might not be

hope somebody could help me :)

thanks in advace:cry:

Common on a lot of makes this. Should be 5 volts there, context the multi metre back up and unplug sensors one by one until the volts go back up to 5. The one you unplug when the volts go back up is causing the problem, it's a sensor with 3 pins or more too

Maybe, I couldn't tell you over the net, needs diagnosing. But it could be a totally different sensor that's effecting it. Why you ideally need to do what I said and then you will know which sensor it actually is

Believe it or not, every single engine sensor with 3 wire, 3 pins on the plug or more. And keep an eye on the Colt readings. If it jumps to 5 then it's that sensor you unplugged, there's always a slight chance that the wrong plug is in the wrong sensor if you have had any recent work done too

well put car back together again and unplugged every sensor 1 by 1 and still no 5v to coil trigger wire

did notice that wen i unplugged the crank sensor that the trigger wire dropped from 1.3v to 0.8v dont no if this is relevent

car is starting to make me want to get a match and some petrol and have a early boinfire lol

Prior to this it ran then cut out

Ive changed the hpfp and cam follow they was both smashed never been changed ran for a bit after being changed

Now i think parts of the pump or follower have dropped down on to pick up ring and broke pickup ring for crank sensor so im thinking sump off and check pickup ring (headache)

Likely caused some serious damage there then, could have allowed fuel into the oil. I'd drain the oil and collect it to see if there's fuel in it. Then as you say take the sump off and inspect for metal filings. Either way it sounds like it could be an expensive fix .

Hope you get to the bottom of it buddy.

*UPDATE*
Well dropped oil sure enough there was fuel in oil strong smell of petrol
Dropped sump found remains of the fuel pump in there
Cleaned out sump and pick up pipe
Refitted sump
Ran oil flush and drained and refilled with fresh oil and filter
Fitted New spark plugs
Turned over by hand just to check nothing was catching in crank etc
Now was time to cross my fingers and toes and everything else lol
Turned the key and boom she started straight up so i left it to idle up to temp
Checked under car to make sure no oil leaks from sump etc
Now the car is running better than ever seems more responsive and faster

So id like to say thanks to the people that helped me with this

Total cost/parts was

New hpfp uprated internals £350
New hpfp £160
New plugs £40
New fuel pressure switch £35
New oil/filter £40
New crank sensor £35
Cam follower £30

All in all £635 in parts and all labour done by me

Fair play, glad you got it all sorted. I'd probably be inclined to drop the oil again after 100 miles or so just to be 100%. Fingers crossed it hasn't done any damage to the bearings.
