alternator

Hi Everyone,

I have got an alternator problem on my car. (Cupra 240) Had a tester put on it and was told it is the alternator. Does anyone know the part number of the alternator for these cars to make sure I get the correct one? Also would it be the alternator or possibly the regulator?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it does have code 8gu on the sticker.

I drove for an hour and half with no problems then left car for 3 hours and came back to start the car but the battery was dead. I jump started it and drove hour and half home. The power steering, air con and Rev counter was not working. I turned car off and it wouldn't start as battery still dead. Changed the battery for a new and it all works but put a tester on it and was saying alternator wasn't charging?
