Hi, i was wondering why there are 4 forums for the ibiza, there are 5 generations of it, and its not called MK, Mk are the initials of a Designer who made the Golf Mk2 and MK3. The New ibiza is in that case will be the MK5 but really is the 5th Generation.

Just as a comment, hope u read this, i can remember the name of the designer of the MK but i had it somewhere in my pc i am gonna check it.. I think is Mark something.

See Ya!.. nice Forum by the way :D ;)

No there are only 4 generations of the ibiza unless we have missed one somewhere!!
Oh and MK is short of Mark i.e Mark 1 , Mark 2, Mark 3, Mark 4

Thanks for answer that fast :D

In the pic above (just edited the post and add it) seems to be 5 generations, and MARK is for VW Golf Generation 2 and 3 as i remember, then they change to Giorgetto Giungaro designs... thats what i knew..

Cheers!

Cyber, we'll forgive you as English is obviously not your first language. Mark is a boys name in our tounge yes, but also means version or series, so you can have a mk1 Leon, mk1 Toledo, mk1 Escort, mk1 Focus etc etc.

And really there are only three generations of Ibiza as the MK3 is just a slightly facelifted mk2. It's just that it's recent enough and popular enough to warrant it's own designation and forum.

Mark1 - Was orginally the Golf 2 design proposal from Giugario (you can see a few similarities between Golf Mk1 if you look closely)
Mark 1.5 - (as its known) was a facelift with new interior and more VW parts. not sure who did that
Mark 2 - This was another design by Giugario, this time loosely based on a concept which (called Proto I think) which has shown earlier, this was designed in conjunction with VW Design who were working on the Polo
Mark 3 - This was an extensive re-design. I've read that it was all done in-house, but as the Toledo/Leon had Giugario input I'm not sure if this was the case
Mark 4 - This was entirely done in house at the (then) new studio

Hope that helps, there is a two part History of SEAT article in the features section I wrote a while back if that helps

next year some time.

I've seen an AutoExpress lash up - and it looks nice.

My brother just went to order his new car (he's a driving instructor) and has been told that a new model is coming out in April (maybe facelift only and they had new pics), they reckon it will be worth waiting for. sounds like beefed up bumpers, slightly improved 1.4 diesel engine etc etc

I’m not expert of this but I think Seat was made cars from the time that VAG Group buy the company. Before this, the only Seat I remember was one car with 4wheels, this is my opinion.
