My Leon mk1 fr won't start. 5yrs ago when it happened there was a wee lever as I call It, just needed lubed as it was stuck, the mechanic said. So when it happened again this week? I sprayed wd40 on it and it worked. It's if stood at front of Car, top left of engine bay, like a wee arm that pivots. I 've not lubed it well enough as it still won't start each time and must be sticking. I presume it fuel issue not pivoting this wee arm. What's it called?
What's a good lube for it?
I can flick it with my finger and car starts

The arm/pivot is connected to a control flap that cuts off the air flow to stop the engine. If the flap is stuck shut then you won’t be able to start the car.

The control flap lives in the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) housing. It clogs up with soot and oil on the inside so lubricating the control arm will have little impact on the problem.

You’ll need to either clean the EGR or do an EGR delete, there’re videos on YouTube showing how to do both. It’s a fairly easy DIY job or you could ask a garage to do it for you.
