Hi
Does anyone know how to test a remote key fob, the fob works when its very close to the sensor on the dashboard, it won't operate the system when it's more than 30cm away. I don't know whether is the transmitter of receiver that isn't functioning correctly.
Thanks

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me, I've tried new batteries and fitted new switches, as i say the fob is working but you have to get it close to the receiver.
Thanks

My guess would be that the fob is knackered, the transponder is glued into the the top of the key part so you could split the key and the remote to check if it's the transponder.

Mine failed last year at 10 years old, the light still came on when I pressed either button, but wouldn't communicate with the car. I had a spare remote from when I was going to swap to a flip key and just added that using VCDS.
