Opening into another tab is a browser setting.

I presume the forum link is set to, open a new window rather than using the parent window, i'll take a look,

But the forums are a separate entity to the rest of the site. So we have it so people don't browse away from the main site.

It won't open in another tab unless you tell it to open new links in tabs, thats a browser only setting. Nowt I can do about that.

But if i set it to open in parent window, it should just open in the page your using. But that's not really a fix. Because it means were changing something we have had set for ages to suit a problem that could be fixed with a preference change.

For example on the Mac. If i want to open a new link in a new tab.

I hold down the Apple () Key and click the link, or right click the link and open in new tab.

I can see the logic there.
How about a separate button for forum members to return to the forum. Otherwise, it's a bit of a pain to visit the main site. :)

Don't see the need. When you can open the link in a separate tab.

There is a link back to the main site at the top of the main forum listings anyway.

And at the bottom of every single forum page.

Ok, I'll try again, in case I'm explaining myself badly. (and apologies if it's me!)

I'm in a browsing session with a number of tabs open. (IE7)
One of the tabs is the SCN Forum.
I want to go to the main site, so I follow the link through.
The Main site is now on the tab that the forum was previously on.
I want to return to the forum.
I click forums, and it opens in a new window.
I now have a session open with all the tabs I'm working on. The forum is now on its own in a separate window.

To get round that, I have

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/search.php?do=getnew

As a mobile favourite.

It's down to the way that PocketIE copes with certain languages and DHTML, rather than the forum (although using different menu code would avoid it). I still find it crazy that earlier versions of PIE supported JScript, but NOT VBScript, and they still don't support DHTML (a Microsoft standard).

Not unless you know anyone who has the time to rewrite vB templates, and then set the tables up so i can make the graphics fit.

Your problem is IE7 :cartman:

I use Firefox at home. Unfortunately it needs to be IE7 at work. Anyway, I can't be the only one to have this problem. I thought you wanted to encourage people to visit the main site. :)
you can go straight to forums without going through the main site though.:

www.seatcupra.net/forums rather than www.seatcupra.net

if you use the forums more than the main site, set your tab, favourites or bookmarks to the first web address and then just click on main site if you then need to go to the main site.

Sorry that has nothing to do with my problem. Please reread my last post. :)

It's frustrating when nobody actually listens, isn't it, Dave...

Edit: The "problem" is that the "FORUMS" link on the main site includes the Target attribute, which is set to "_blank", which is W3C HTML for "open in a new, blank, window".
