Cut a long story short
Had some rattles on my engine which turned out to be the cam chain tensioner so had the cambelt and cam chain changed , after this me and my mechanic then heard a slight bigend knock on cyclinder 1 so then i had all 4 bigends changed..HAPPYDAYS world's quietest tfsi....for a week (130mile)...out of nowhere boom! Low oil pressure warning flags up so like the mechanical minded guy i am i instantly clutched in and switched the engine off and rolled to a halt , found the rubber hose that connects to the back of the rocker cover was missing its clamp and suspected this dumped the built up pressure out, nicked the clamp of my revo intake for the dv return and fitted it to get me home. 3mile later the low pressure warning come on again so i done the same pulled over straight away.

No oil leaks , no obvious signs of escaped pressure. Oil was bang on just below the max line. Restarted the car and the warning had gone , went to pull off and heard every tfsi drivers worst nightmare...a dreaded but very blatent "knock" straight up turned it off before it had the chance to do it again.

Rac come to get me home and the tech started up the car and just blipped the throttle and the knock was there.

Could one of my rod bolts come loose on the bigend?? The rac bloke said that would have flagged up a low pressure warning.

Oil pick up was deep cleaned and so was the pump before refitting

Expecting the worse but with positive end results (rifle drilled rods + wossner pistons)
But my current internals was in good nick so hoping they would be fine. (Bwj has AP rods in as standerd btw if you didnt know)

Not had much luck with this car so far

Just to update , car decided to squash the bigend bearing on cylinder 1 , the garage and a engine specialist suspect the conrod is gone hence its destroyed 2 big end bearings. In the proces now of getting the crank reground and a set of zrp rifle drilled rods installed.

Mechanic also advised i put in a new oil pump

What are the ones that powermax provide with a balance shaft delete like?

Is it worth a go or better be the devil we know and stick to a stock pump?
