I had a 2.0 TDI 150 DSG (2013 model). I would say my use is 60% city, 20% A roads (40-50mph) and 20% motoways (60-70+mph). Did only 8000+ miles over 2 years.
City drives are usually either 3-4 miles (each way) or 10-12 miles (each way), with lots of start stops. I use the car twice and sometimes thrice a week. When I do motorways its usually the airport run, and or somewhere far (2+ hrs drive).
The DPF light never once came on, although you can 'see' and 'hear' the car doing an active regen every once in awhile, and get a shock when you park up, and the engine fan is still running full pelt! and it stinks!
Car only drinks Shell / Esso regular diesel and sometimes Shell's Premium Diesel.
I do like the 'shove' in the back feeling in any gear on this engine, esp 2nd gear...feels like being in a plane on the runway and pilot puts full power...and that feeling of the intial acceleration.
Would I recommend? if you do A roads and motorways yes...if city only, probably a 1.4 ACT or 1.0 TSI may be better.
I now have the 1.0 EcoTSI
Ibiza DSG, it's slightly more economical on a city run, judging from the TC, but on highways @ 70mph + forget it, the 2.0TDI will do 70mph with 57-62 mpg instant read out, whereas the 1.0 (mind you the official figures are identical (53 city, 64 combined, 72 highway) but doesn't tell you the full story) does the same 70mph, only showing 47-52 mpg instant read out.
My once a week Sunday AM city run from east London to West London, 13 miles. the 2.0 TDI would get approx 46-48 mpg (best ever 52mpg) The 1.0 EcoTSI would get 49-52mpg (best ever 58 mpg)for the trip all things being equal. Same route, same time every Sunday @ 845 with little traffic. Likewise my trip to Stansted from mine 6am...2.0TDI returned 57mpg, 1.0TSI 'only' 47mpg.
