Help with adapting a NEW instrument cluster in Leon mk2

How can I extract the SKC on my MY08 Leon to replace the instrument cluster with a new one. Or does anyone on the forum know someone/someplace in the west of Scotland where I can get it done? Nothing illegal or underhand here, this is all legit so I can install bluetooth. I have the 'new' cluster but when I was getting it adapted at the dealers today, their equipment said it was 'used' and already had immobiliser data written to it even though the mileage was zero!! I got charged labour for this so i'm not best pleased. This part was sold to me as new by Ted Johnson Seat, and I am not in any way blaming them for the fact it is not new. These things happen, and I am in the process of sorting something out, but I want to know if there is an alternative to the dealer if need be. I have a fully registered vag-com.

Any help or info greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

James.

Tristan the partsman at Ted Johnson's is on holiday at the moment and won't be back until Monday. I've mailed him and spoken to one of his colleagues today but I was told I would have to wait until he returns to work on Monday. Hopefully this will be an easy sort, either exchange for another new part or a refund. I am exploring other avenues such as extracting the SKU from the new/used cluster and doing the swap myself. Will keep you posted on developments.

Spoke to Tristan at Ted Johnson's today. He didn't have good news for me. Basically its like this, he spoke to Seat technical for me and they said they would not exchange or refund on the part since I had it for more than 2 weeks! Also he commented on there being 'immo data' already on the panel and the dealer equipment reporting it as 'used'. Seat's reply was all clusters sold are NEW and definitely not used or 2nd hand. This makes me feel that the dealer who attempted to adapt the cluster for me has made a pigs-ear of things. Finally, they only supply on a like for like basis and since the cluster supplied was not the same as that in the car, I couldn't get an exchange or refund. So in a nutshell, SEAT / VAG do not want us to modify or upgrade our vehicles, even with new OEM parts. I'm not blaming Ted Johnson's for any of this, after all they only provide us with a means to get parts at discount.

I'm not writing off a £500+ cluster yet though, i'm gonna put it back in and investigate with VCDS to see exactly what immo/vin data is stored on it. I wouldn't be surprised if it matches my VIN. I'd still need to get the SKC though to adapt it myself. I'm going to visit a local diagnostic agent who specialises in VAG BMW and MB. Maybe he'll be able to pull the SKC for me.
