Doesn't sound cheap but then I've not looked around to see what to compare it to. Hopefully there won't be many options.

What's the URL for the Configurator?

I wonder if that's 17k and poverty spec, or 17k & loaded

Normally SEAT's have few options, so I'd expect good standard kit
The Sport is pretty well equipped, so I would expect the FR to have a similar level of equipment, especially if they were to discontinue the Sport.

Possibly the xenons will be std. and the cool look around corner ones will be an option?

You're getting effectively a golf GTI (minus the badge) with more std. kit, for a lot less.

I think it's a good price.

Just been surfing and looking at the Focus, Civic and Astra.

As an example ('cos it's still on my other monitor), the Astra SRi XP with a 1.9CDTI and 6 speed box lists at £18,625.

Really not impressed by the new FR, think i'll be leaving the Seat brand next time i change, it's not bad but it really doesn't stir the soul like the old one did. It still looks great to this day but this one just doesn't impress...

Shame really as the hot versions made up 50% of sales of the old one, i think they've made a mistake..

Look at the first attempt at the cupra last time (pre-face lift) that was horrid too (no offence to any owners here!) - then after the face lift it took off...

This meant 1 car design, 6 years of sales, witha face lift half way through.

IMHO - Expect exactly the same this time round!

I agree (somewhat biased I know!), although I wouldn't say I'd leave the brand. Just seems like something's missing on the new one, can't quite put my finger on it

The doubters, need to go and drive these new cars, don't base your opinions just on looks alone, which in my opinon i dont see a problem with, i think its a good looking car, the engineering under the skin of these new cars, makes the old car like a dinosaur.

Its is a cut price Mk5 Golf GTi, and just look at the favourable reviews that car gets.

I am being tempted terribly at the moment, but I know I'll only be annoyed if i dont wait for the Cupra version.

But those in the market for a new modern hot hatch with lots of equipment, i dont think you can go wrong.

i have to agree, i have driven a tdi sport and it makes the old leon feel old , it is better equiped more comfortable more space , you actually have a back seat now.

a few months down the line when you will be able to order one with 2k off list

from DTD etc for 15k it wont look so bad when the gti is still demanding 20k +

Looking at the photo in Leonlad's post no. 86, unless those guys are 8 feet tall there is no way the Leon FR looks like an MPV.:D

Exactly, its actually got a low roofline, lower at the front than the old car, i have to stoop more to get in it, but once in there is plenty of headroom.

Overall it is just under an inch taller than the car it replaces.

An inch in metric, is 25.4mm, look it up on a ruler, its sweet f.a. :)

Most aftermarket lowering springs, and suspension kits, will give you at least a 25mm drop, and you know you can probably squeeze bigger than 18" wheels under those arches if you really wanted to. ;)

I test drove a sport PD1140 back to back with an FR150

they are chalk and cheese behind the wheel. As Tam says - 6yr old design vs cutting edge

Feels like a coupe inside, and much higher quality.

People are directly comparing the two models. The new one is 7+ years newer! alot has changed in terms of design and technology in that time. I love the new Leon, thats why i bought the TFSI, but im not biased as ive never had a older leon before!
