I test drove a sport PD1140 back to back with an FR150........they are chalk and cheese behind the wheel. As Tam says - 6yr old design vs cutting edge.........Feels like a coupe inside, and much higher quality.

The doubters, need to go and drive these new cars, don't base your opinions just on looks alone, which in my opinon i dont see a problem with, i think its a good looking car, the engineering under the skin of these new cars, makes the old car like a dinosaur.

I have also driven a new Leon, Reference Tdi, as a courtesy car and was really impressed with the handling for such a basic model. I do think this bodes very well for handling on the New FR and Cupra models.

My comments on the looks of the new FR are based on the information I have to hand, ie pictures on SCN and Seat's website. I don't doubt that this will be a better handling car than the outgoing model - I would expect nothing less.

However a car is a bit like a woman - you have to like how it looks, in order to fully appreciate all it has to offer. Let's face it if you buy one you'll have to look at it every day. I happen to prefer the look of the Mk1 FR - maybe that will change over time - maybe first impressions really do count.

The cars look much better in the flesh and look great on the road even in non FR form. The pictures always make it look taller than it is. I think our brains must get confused with having seen pictures of Alteas for so long as well.

The drive is excellent, great seats, gear stick position, driving position, interior etc is all excellent.

If the Cupra was two years off I'd be snapping up an FR now. I just have to have patience. (which I'm not very good with).

Think the new Leon is a stunning car and the majority of pictures don't do the car any justice. Its great to drive also!

Exactly what I have been saying, when I look at pictures of the new Leon my mind thinks MPV purely because of the way it photographs. All the low down shots do it no favours and as said you cant help but think of the ALtea. Shame.

Is anyone going to the London Motorshow to see this at the SEAT stand.
Looks like the Leon Cupra will be unveiled there too which is good news.

Odd that most of the communicardo coming out of SEAT UK say that the Cupra won't appear until the end of the year.

Last time we spoke to them, the Cupra had yet to be signed off.

I think What Car are clutching at straws a little bit with that one, but i shall do some digging..

was on the end of something which arrived today from them.

Sounds promising then, certainly good news, and i did predict that the Cupra may get at least a preview at the motorshow, as were such a high profile market for SEAT's sporty cars.

But most of the info coming out of there as i say, indicated that it would be later in the year, but looking at it from another point of view, if it appears at London, it could be in showrooms in time for Christmas.

2.0 Tdi Dpf Fr???
Apparently it stands for 'diesel particulate filter' – part of EU4 emissions control.

Edited to add that I've discovered DPF also stands for 'Adult Diaper Fetish' but I don't think it's referring to that in this case.
