AMK BAM ECU Swap?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can replace an AMK Ecu with a BAM version (immob deleted or coded)?
Will it cause any issues due to the differences as I have heard here may be an extra turbo sensor on BAM wiring?
AMK Ecus are harder to find.

My AMK LCR is suffering from gremlins, it has thrown up a couple of codes for O2 sensor and cooling system as well as running intermittently lumpy with occasional high revs on startup (2000+).
Both the CTS and O2 sensor have been replaced but the problems persist leading me to believe the Ecu needs replacing (sometimes ecu cannot be found by scanner)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Ben,
What codes exactly are you getting? Changing the ECU could be an expensive step without making sure it's not a wiring or other sensor issue first.

I'm sure plenty of others more knowledgeable about the actual ECU swap will be along shortly!

Hi Gaz,

16514 - O2 sensor malfunction
17704 - cooling system malfunction

The temp gauge on dash only works occasionally.
When start in morning it's fine but when get out of car 10 mins later then back in after 5 more it can idle at 2k and become jerky changing gear, feeing underpowered for a few mins before back to normal.

Thanks
Ben

I had the same codes with mine. New temp sensor cleared the temp sensor code but I cannot get rid of the lambda fault. I have replaced it 3 times now with 2 second hand ones and a brand new one, still wont clear and cars stuck in limp mode.

My local Independent Vag specialist reckon it's the Ecu due to the problem being intermittent and the temp gauge rarely working. It has never gone into limp mode or had issues on longer drives other than non-working temp gauge.

They have suggested due to the AMK engine it is diff to find a suitable used Ecu to reprogram..
I am dubious of this... but don't know any different..

you sure its not just the water temp stat and lambda sensor at fault?

The LCR has been scanned again by another VAG specialist and the error codes show up but as software related so it does seem to be the Ecu.
I am getting it sent away to be inspected/repaired if poss.

Thanks for help guys

Thanks, I have already sorted the Ecu to be sent for repair via my local VAG specialist but will contact r-tech once I get it back as I am looking at a stage 1 map (car is stock at mo)
