I'm planning the install of my Pioneer GM-D1004, which is a compact 4x45W RMS class D amplifier. The amp is small enough to not need heavy duty wiring, and should not destroy the stock speakers.

The radio installed in the car has extra wires for the remote turn on and an additional grounding point. The power could probably be tapped into, but the fuse to the radio is 10A, so I will be tapping into another fuse.

I hope I can fit this amp behind the radio, if not I will go for the glove box which has the added benefit of a whole to cool from outside.

I hope to post pictures as the install goes along.

Cheers,

B

I did the install, I had to mount the amp onto of the glove box, by removing the glove box and screwing the amp on top. I had to cut part of the plastic to help angle the glove box back into position.

The install was actually rather simple, though I wish I knew in advance that I only had front speakers and no back speakers.

Next project is to add a sub woofer from the unused channels of the amp bridged.
