custom exhaust? Powerflow

Hi all,

in max power or revs or somethinng like that, i read an article where a Vauxhall corsa (yes i know a corse but this is not the point) had a custom exhaust made i think from the company called Powerflow! do powerflow make custom exhausts and if so is there a local one around the surrey, essex general London area, in fact i dont care where it is (as long as it is not in Scotland)so i will travel to get it done.

What i ideally want is a full cat system but with a tail exhaust piece either side of my bumper like in the picture i have attached but only a single exhaust either side or even perhaps a double one either side (which ever looks best)

Anyone have any idea of who would do this and who i can contact and will i be able to get this done for around £400?

powerflow have custom made places all over the UK, and im sure they will have one pretty near to you. But beware, some places are crap, some are good. Best get an opionion off someone who has had a powerflow jobbie. There seems to be a mixed view of these powerflow jobbies.

Thanks Mike,

Ok so now the question is "Has anyone had a custom made jobby and what was it like" or does anyone know of someone who has had it done and please the last thing i dont want is a very loud exhaust like something off a Nova! nice burbling sound and growl when i accelerate

(looks like i might have to stick to the 6x4 Magnex one!)

tony, try www.exhaustsuk.com i was looking into them for a custom made job. Their work looks class. You choose the system like powerflow, ie bore size, sound, tailpipe(s), completly stainless steel system. Very helpfull they were too when i spoke to them on the phone. They are based in sheffield.

thanks for that Mike, but Sheffield may be abit too far although they do sound very good, only problem is the design i want they are not sure whether there is enough room or not under the car, and they would not know untill they managed to look under the car, if yopu can see my point, driving all the way to Sheffield only to find out it cant be done, a wasted journey it would be.

hmm i see your point matey. can you not get under the car and take some pics and email or post them to them?? other than that try a local powerflow dealer. Their website is under construction at the moment so nothing can be viewed at all. :(

Just a thought for you here Tony - If you want to make good power, i'd avoid a duplex system (exit either side) like the one you're proposing. The difference in lengths between the two pipes will all but ensure that the flows will never balance and that in turn will make for some very odd flows. There's a fairly high chance you'll end up with a system that sets up lots and lots of lovely standing waves and probably resonate like a b*stard. If you're considering a one-off like Powerflow, the problems are likely to be even worse as by the very nature of a one-off system, there's no R&D goes into making the thing flow correctly.

As for Powerflow dealers in your area, Petrolhead Paul who posts on here is somewhere round your way I think - he had a very bad experience with a Powerflow system from a place in Surrey, unbelievably boomy around mid-range revs...

thanks alot for your words of wisdom Hopkins, and yes i have decided that afer doing alot of reseacrch and ringing around places for custom made exhausts, it is not easy, i have decided to just stick with the standard full cat Magnex 6x4 oval as this is alot easier and alot less hassle. and my last exhaust on the escort was af ull cat Magnex and i had no problems with it at all and it was very good, so as they say if it aint broke dont fix it and stick to what you know, which is what i am doing!!

Well thanks alot for all your suggestions and help

:D :) :car: :laff1:

heard nothing but bad quality and unsatisfied customers from power flow down here!!!! Same goes for long life, myself having bad customer service on a few occasions and dodgey materials (Bits of rust on a "stainless Steel" Exhaust!!!). However the sound was absolutly awesome!!!!! Deep Burble Noise, even on tick over, pitty it was only a 1.6. Also i found that the grade of steel they use it complete wank!!!! Midlle section being brown in colour from day 1 and dodgey welds etc... Next time im going to go for something like miltek with a good name. however different locations have different garages, therefore different levels of workmanship, just cause i have a bad experience locally doesnt mean u nessecerily will!!! :)

cheers
