Tokk the car in for a service las week, all went well except:
- after asking them to diagnose a fault light they said their machine wasn't working!!! am still waiting on a phone call to get it looked at.
- they didn't stamp the book, so I had to go back in to get it done!!
- they didn't say any of the hinges or bonnet release (the dealer in Forfar used to every year)
- they don't even do wheel alignment (they are also Citreon dealers and the dealership is a fair size)

- the only good thing was the car was washed for me picking her up

Been there this month, they have a new Consultant Techy guy just started in March and he sorted out a warning light warranty problem on mine, (their machine must be working again!) don't think the previous guy did too well. couldn't fault them and will be getting my service there when it's due , maybe things will go better for you next time! Hope so!

Oh and forgot to mention they didn't even bother to reset the SERVICE light:censored:

Anyway, I won't be giving them anymore business as I pay good money to keep my car in good shape. The Skoda dealership is far more professional, helpful, friendly, etc etc so they will be getting more business from me :D

"oh yeah" was the reply.... DUHHHH.
wont be going back there anyway. got one more at hand anyway now i'm service advisor at a seat dealership :p

I know the forum guide says this shouldn't be used for 'witch hunts' but i'm really struggling to find anything constructive to say about the customer service at this dealer.

I have a Seat Leon FR 150 and it was due its 60000 mile service. I decided to take it to this seat garage as I assumed they would know what they were doing with the car in comparison to just taking it to a random garage. They quoted me £270 for the service which seemed a lot but decided it would hopefully be worth it. How wrong I was!

I was due to pick up the car on Tuesday (2 days ago). However, I got a phone call on Tuesday afternoon to say the mechanic had somehow pulled out the oil sump and this had caused the thread on it to shrew. They blamed the previous service for tightening the sump too tight so they couldn't get it out (I am however a little suspicious over this as I have only ever used a seat garage for services.) They said it would cost me £250 for a new sump and also £5 if I wanted it delivered for the next day. After much deliberation with the manager I agreed to this as I couldn't start the car with a broken sump so saw no other option.

I then received a phone call on Wednesday afternoon (I thought this would be to say the car was ready.) They had managed to order in the wrong sump plug. How a seat garage orders the wrong seat part made me very [:@]. I spoke to the manager the again and unfortunately no discount available for their mistake but they would give me a courtesy car which I would have to go and pick up.

I wake up today (Thursday) to a phone call which I again assume is to let me know the car is ready. But oh no, they have managed to order the wrong part AGAIN [:@]. They have now told me the quickest thing to do is wait until tomorrow for the part to be delivered again. So thats 4 days without my car all because this garage cant order the correct sump. They have offered no discount despite me trying several times.

I am not the kind of person to complain but this garage have made my blood boil! Terrible customer service and terrible knowledge of this car! Fingers crossed I will get my car back tomorrow night but who knows.

Has anyone had any similar experiences or does anyone have any advice which I could use to try and get some sort of a discount for this dealers catalogue of errors?

in reply to brods7, somehow that does not surprise me what you're saying. yes, the £5 for next day on an item if it is after a specific time is valid, but with it being them that are ordering incorrect parts you should not be charged.
just mention the fact you have draughted a letter to head office and they will promtly change their ways. or at least attempt to.
in the future, fife seat is the way to go i think....

Thanks Sarah, starting to write my rather grumpy letter! Yes I think fife seat may be better as all previous services have been done there without problem. However Alistair Fleming Seat are saying its Fife seats fault for tightening the sump too tight and thats why its broken (and why I have to pay £250!)

Yeah I know what you mean about the stamp but as Skoda is part of the VAG group I am more than happy to have their stamp in my book - and the service is spot-on :D

I took my car to Fleming 18 months ago for a warranty repair on the rear screenwash. When I got the car back, I found they had washed it as well so I was well pleased. Good dealer I thought.

So when it was due for a minor service last year, I took it back to Fleming.

It was needing a clean so I was hoping they would wash it again but they didn't. So I paid over £130 and took the car away. I had to go back when I found they hadn't stamped the Service Book.

Later I was looking at the details on the SEAT website, and I found that a Minor Service includes a wash, stamp in the book and costs £129. It also includes replacement of the pollen filter if required.

I decided to pull the filter out, to see if it had been disturbed (bits of debris fall out if it hasn't been taken out for a while). It was difficult to tell if it had been inspected, but the filter was filthy.

Car wash, filter, service stamp all missed? Do they not work from a checklist. Wrong price as well. Indicates a sloppy business.

I phoned the Service Manager to complain. He said that the pollen filter does not usually need to be changed at a minor service, but he would sell me one at trade price. I pointed out that the SEAT fixed price service list says that the filter will be replaced if required. Eventually he agreed to send me one free of charge.

His attitude throughout was that they had done nothing wrong so I contacted SEAT UK. They agreed that Fleming's performance was unsatisfactory. I asked for a refund and Fleming offered £100 off my next service.

Part 2 of this saga happened a few months after the warranty ended. The screenwash developed a leak. I contacted SEAT UK to ask if they would repair this as a goodwill gesture in view of my experience at Fleming and my loyalty (this is my fourth Ibiza). Well it wasn't easy, but eventually they agreed that they would contribute up to half the cost, but it would depend what they found when they dismantled (eg if I had damaged it).

I took the car to Western Seat in Edinburgh who found that the rear pipe (repaired by Fleming) had been chafing on the bodywork. SEAT UK covered the full cost of the repair without any argument.

I asked SEAT UK what action they would take with Fleming - my car had been there twice and both times they had been lacking. He replied that they would inform Fleming but couldn't take any action because they are a franchise rather than part of SEAT UK. I told him I had heard of Mercedes Benz taking strong action against an unsatisfactory dealer.. He said this wasn't they way SEAT UK operated. People will stop going to a garage that is not good.

I told him that I would post my experience on a SEAT forum and he asked me to point out that they also have some good dealers.

I have been happy with Western Seat in Edinburgh and Livingstones in Uddingston. However I wouldn't trust Alistair Fleming to service my wheelbarrow.

A very interesting thread!
I bought my car from Fleming as being my nearest Seat dealer seemed obvious.
Very off-hand about the sale and seemed to be only interested in getting it through asap.
No "How is your car" follow -up or any interest in their customer.
Having then been beset by the ubiquitous door rattles problem, I took the car back to them. They didn't even know enough about the marque to realise that it was a a problem known to Seat. ("We sent two "technicians" out in the car and they couldn't hear anything.........!"). Basically translated means we've had your money now go away and stop bothering us.
In disgust with them I went to Morrison Seat in Stirling. What a difference! Hadn't bought the car there but they immediately knew of the problem booked the car in the next week while they ordered the parts from Seat. Car in.....job done( totally satisfactorily cured).....no charge.....no fuss.
Guess who gets my money in future?
