i thought it was just me that was getting annoyed with threads going wildly off topic with mindless drivel.....the amount of times i've stopped reading a thread because of it..... which has lead to a decline in my personal use of the forum because of this!:(

i hope this is a turning point, for the better, and can get the forum back on track!

keep up the good work admin , your efforts are appreciated by many, but maybe the amount of work involved probably not fully understood.

PS. any posts using text speak should just be deleted! :ban:
i can appreciate this may be a big ask to police initially, but the offenders would eventually get in the habit of using vowels.....

like many, I have been a forum member for many years now, I may not have contributed as many posts as some but can honestly say that I have viewed the site nearly everyday, whether or not I have decided to post comments.
I have met some genuine friends through this site, some local and some far away, i've been to meets and track days, have seen some awesome cars such as Bill's Ibiza, been introduced to people who can help when you need them and been given such confidence in the brand due to the ever growing enthusiasm and dedication of certain people pushing the name forward, the site is a mindfield of information and to me has always been a friend.

Z and the other admin are totally correct in their actions, the site was set up for reasons already covered within this thread and so it should remain.

Editing your spelling
i just got linked to this when i came on, have i done something wrong? :|

i like using the site, and find most people are friendly and helpful, hope it stays that way..

No you havent done anything wrong, all users got it as a reminder.

re the text message comments before, at the moment i edit them, but certainly just deleting them sounds quick and easy to me :)

Very new to the site, but have been on other forums. Good to see you don't put up with stupid posts.

Must have missed something!!

To all naughty boys and gals out there: (you know who you are) no doubt you've been notified. You know there are rules and a there's a big fat ban button if it all gets out if hand. The Admins have more important things to do than clearing up what is obviously a waste of server space.

To the Admins: the vast majority of members appreciate the amount of personal time and effort you guys put into the site. We all know how much of a precious commodity time is.

All I can say is thank you.

Woah! Like many a folk, feel I must have missed something too.. Oh well, probably glad I did. Without meaning to sound like a sycophant (txt spk tht mofkr!), I am well indebted to this site for the huge amount of help, support and technical-know-how it has given me. It has also enabled me to save many dollar...:)

I shall continue to display my SCN vinyls with pride! :D

Anyway, well said Z and the crew. Clearly stated.

The contents of this should go without saying, it's a pity that a small majority of members spoil things for others who want to use this forum as it should be used.

Interesting to see that you specifically mention the use of bad language -- folks then read this, and then someone above has posted a reply using -- guess what -- bad language. (Post number 11 in this thread)

Perhaps some folk just don't understand the use of plain English that you have written the rules in, and if you post another in street/text speech you'd get a fuller response from all the membership!

I'm a very new member on here, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the work you are doing, and to the countless members who have posted USEFUL and INTERESTING topics on here, specifically related to SEAT! Thanks!

Mike

We are really pointing out the 'over-use' of bad language. Some are just continually crude, and also use it as a means to rant at other people or companies. As an example this 'effin' stealer did this or something on those lines. Hopefully you get my drift.

It's not a kids forum, so I expect people will occasionally use some slang, or swear words to express themselves. We are not here to set the world to rights. However some people can use bad language far too flippantly and in threatening or abusive ways towards people or companies (as in dealers, suppliers).

So that's really the point we are making in that example.

In the grand scheme of things post number 11 was rather tame and not something we would point out as being bad.

Read and understood.

Been a member on here for a few years now and have never seen much in the way of arguments etc, I mainly spend my time in the MK2 Ibiza section and spose it's alot smaller than the rest so a friendlier community.

Your always going to get keyboard warriors that use forums as a means to have a pop at people as they haven't got the bottle in real life but hey that is life.

Hope things do improve as this is my longest standing use of a forum as the quality of people and advice is the best I've found, real car people not local cruise numpty's.

Keep it up boys don't let them beat you!!

I think you're right, the language & types of post in one particular model-specific forum has changed markedly over the last few years; must be a sign of the times and the differences between age groups that the cars are now affordable to. Does make you worry about the future of this country when you see the appalling spelling & text speak!

I use other forums for other hobbies / interests and SCN ranks top of the list for quality of content & the people that use it.
I may have left the fold (short term I hope), but still pop in to check up & see if there's anything that I can add constructive information/advice to.

I have the utmost respect to the Admin's & Mod's on SCN, and the sterling work that they do to manage what is a very large community site.

People that don't seem to be able to fit in with the SCN spirit & acceptable behaviour should be politely shown the door if they are unable to bring their level of respect up to point that most other people seem to be able to achieve from birth.

Long may SCN live on & provide the information & advice that I 1st came here looking for!!
