Hi all

Had a problem last couple of days. Symptoms are as follows:

1. Smoky and smell of engine oil. Expecially idle and pulling away in first

2. Power is fine but went into idle on way home from work today.

3. NO engine light

4. AA found an overboost fault code but it disappeared in front of us!

5. No oil in turbo boost pipes.

6. No creamy deposit in the oil

7. Not using a lot of oil or coolant

8. No exhaust gasses in the coolant.

The AA guy said he thought that the oil seals might be on the way out but he couldnt be sure what the problem was.

Any ideas?

Please help

Looks like it is the variable veins sticking in the turbo.

Off goes the turbo for a rebuild.

Just ordered the Allard EGR replacement kit too. Will fit that while Im on

But then you have to add fitting etc on top of the price of the hybrid..........

There is a local place a lot cheaper than that. Costs from £160-£350 for rebuild depending on what is needed or £350 exchange for a new turbo.

I found a place in Lancashire that will do a hybrid conversion for £400 inc vat and courier. They will also do a custom remap for £280 to suit the conversion.

I am just having my turbo reconditioned, not interested in a hybrid really, I have an Arial Atom and an R6 for my speed and power kick :p
