Hi all

Have problem with hot starting. From cold the car will start first time every time.
When engines hot if I stop for fuel or pop into the shops when I then try and start the car it turns over and over until eventually starting. It does always start eventually but takes a lot of cranking. (No huge smoke cloud after start or rough running.) Doesn’t make any difference whether I stop for 5 mins, 10, 30 etc…. always same problem unless im really lucky and it fires first time!

I have changed crankshaft sensor, the coolant temp sensor, fitted non return valve in front of fuel filter, new fuel filter, checked for leaks etc…..

Took it to a VW specialist who put it on VAG COM which only fault showed Battery (27% output!)

Fitted new battery and this cured the problem for a week until started again.

Have tested alternator and its fine

Now winter is here I noticed a real shortage of power. For example at night when the lights are on they flicker, if I move the steering wheel they dim massively (I know its got electric power steering) even If I beep the horn the lights dim!

If I have the interior fan blowing it slows when I steer.

So somewhere I have a massive drain or short? I have changed the battery earth strap and cleaned where it meets the car

Im hoping this electrical problem is maybe draining so much that the starter motor is struggling to fire the engine when hot?

Help!
