3-pin cigarette socket?

Ibiza, 6K2:

Disconnected cigarette plug from the socket, plug has three wires.

One is live (middle): at 12.78 volts when earthed to chassis.

When this live wire is connected (through multimeter) to one of the other two I get; a reading of 12.78 in one, and 11.54 in the other.

I assume the 12.78 one is the true earth (?) What about the other one at the lower voltage? Don't have a vehicle wiring diagram to compare against.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it was.

One wire: power supply @12.78V
One wire: earth
One wire: illumination (but still has 5.5V when ignition off; not sure why)
