Well peeps,

theres been another thread on this forum on another mark and ive been following it with regard to flip keys...

theres been some talk from some people that 434mhz and 433mhz flip keys will work with the mk3 seat ibiza!

I can confirm it doesn't work.

Bought myself 2 434mhz VW keys and they won't programme to the car...

only the seat alhambra key seems to work...

has anyone else got any info about it?

apparantly according to Spareman on here 433 and 433.92 and 434 are all the same mhz keys.......so this is why some people on the leon forum etc are reporting 433mhz and 434mhz keys working as flip keys...

I think the ibiza mk3 has to use siemens flip keys.......

Anyone else have any info?

Well, on my Toledo which has a 433 Mhz key, I can confirm that a 434 Mhz key also works..

So what is different between a Toledo and an Ibiza in the key department ?

They both work on the Leon as i did this last night.
Not sure why an Ibiza would be different, but if you have found it doesn't work then it's worth making Ibiza owners know so they don't waste time and money finding out the hard way.

Funky, if its not working its not down to the frequency.
Either it must be programed differently or simply some keys are not compatable

a guide could be handy but at the same time i dont think theres much too it to warrent a guide..perhaps a sticky by someone who has done it and not just removed the chip from a spare set.

AFAIK you MUST get a fob with a 433.92 transmitter, no other will work. then get this coded to your own vehicle. I dont know whether the method used to recode original keys works or if it has to be taken to a dealer, which will cost about 40quid probably. the blade itself also has a code for the immobiliser although i do believe any decent keymakers can do this?

you have to use a 433.92 transmitter as found out..

but people get confused about the immobliser and the central locking...

and the transponder stuff...

getting a sticky would be a good idea to make sure people stop asking and get confuwsed! :D

The Mk 3 key can be found on ebay for about £20.

You can take them from the VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy or Alhambra.

Mine is a ford one, causes confusion if you leave the keys with a garage :)

The Leon most likely has a more advanced system that allows a few frequencys, however the Ibiza is 433.92 only.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, don't confuse the issue. 433.92 IS THE ONLY FREQUENCY, anything that says 433 or 434 on it still transmits at 433.92. Some parts knock off the.92, others round it up o 434 but the frequency is 433.92

so therefore, by conclusion it would appear that because all frequencys are the same.....

then.....it because the ibiza uses Siemens and the others all use HELLA.....

Can anyone confirm the VW Sharon Flip key uses Siemens? that would then confirm it?

I am with Spareman on this...

I thought the same for my Tolly, but after trying various keys, I can confirm that all work ok irrespective of whether marked 433 or 434 Mhz..

I would of thought it was the same for the Ibiza, as I can't see SEAT or VW implementing different systems across their range !

I have even sync'ed my 433 Marked key with my dads Polo, just to show how easy it is !!
